「そろそろsemblogからsemanticの看板をはずさないといけないかなあ」について
で，Community Webの話．人によっては「またまたそんな怪しげな単語を持ち出して」と思うかもしれない．まあそうかも．自分でもそう思うことがあるし．が，実際にはそんなに大層な話ではなく，Web上の情報リソースを人単位で管理してもらおう，そして人の間にリンクを張ることで構造をすっきりさせよう，というのがCommunity Webのキモである．これまでのWeb（ここではInformation Webと呼ぶ）は端的に言えば情報（HTML）とその間のリンクしかない世界である．このシンプルかつ混沌とした世界において自然言語処理とリンク構造でなんとか検索したりしているのが現状で，それなりにうまくいっているのだけれども最近ではWeblogのSEO効果などでやや破綻が見えつつある．semblogプロジェクトでは，そこに人という概念を持ち込み，人ごとの情報の整理を簡単にでもやってもらい，そのうえで人と人をつないでいく，すなわち人-情報のリンクと人-人のリンクという2階層のモデルをWebに導入しようと考えている．
抽象的すぎてよくわからないやも．しかしこれはすでに現実に存在していて，そのもっともたる例がWeblogである．多くのWeblogは1つのサイトという枠組みの中にたくさんのエントリがあって，両者はリンクされている．この場合のサイトは1つの入れ物でしかないわけだが，それを「書き手という人を代表して公開されているもの」と考えればまさにCommunity Webの基本モデルである．RNAも同じ．ある人が持つRNAという入れ物に自分の好みの情報がある程度整理されて入っており，それらが公開された状態になっている．というように，人の存在はすでにWeb上にあって，あとはそれら同士をどうつなぐかという問題になる．そこで出てくるのがFOAF．このメタデータを使って人の間のリンクをある程度リッチなかたちで表現する．Weblogサイトをまたぐエントリ間のリンクとは意味づけを変えつつ，共存させる．で，そのFOAFリンクを容易に作る方法が最新のRNAに実装されたFOAF TrackBackである．いまはRNAの付属機能ではあるが，次はWeblogの情報をFOAFに記載できるようにして，Weblog間リンクとして利用できるようにする．もちろんFOAF TrackBackだけを切り出すこともできる（けどRNAのRSSアンテナ機能も使ってほしい．．．）．ここまでやると，Weblogで情報を発信し，RNA（と連携するglucose）でまわりの情報を収集・編集する個人，というものがFOAFで表現できるようになる．いつになるやらわからないが，こういう情報がそこらじゅうで公開され，リンクされるという状況が来たならば，果たして何ができるのか．それこそが今後のsemblog.orgの活動として問われる部分であり，いま秘かに仕込んでいる部分である．といってもすぐに立派なものはできそうにもないけれど．
これは余談になるが，semblogとセマンティックWebの関係はここにきて急速に強くなっている．原因は他でもないFOAFの導入で，出自からしてRSSみたいないい加減なフレームワークではないことが判明しつつある（あたりまえか）．そのためにRDFSも調べないといけないし，OWLも調べないといけないし，どうもデータだけでは書けない部分がありそうでOWL-SとかこれはもしやWSDLで書いたほうがいいのか？とか，順調にセマンティック（やWebサービス）の階段を上がっております．いやはや．
