いやはやまったく Web KANZAKI には何でも載っているなあ，ということで引き続きsemblog moduleによるRSS拡張のことを考えてみる．TrackBack moduleにおいてPingをもらった元のURIをメタデータとして用意しなかったのは意図的なことであるらしい． 前のエントリ でも書いたように，Ping元というデータは作者の持ちものではなくてエントリを読んだ他の人が付加するので同じように扱うわけにはいかないからだろう，と考えていたのだが，どうも聞き捨てならない記述がある．まとめると「たくさんのRSSのデータが集積されれば、trackback:aboutだけで記事の関連は把握できる、というわけです。」（KANZAKIさんの文章をお借りしました）だそうだ．

RSS-DEVのMLを購読してないのでコンテキストをちゃんと理解していないが，その考え方というのはある意味でTrackBackの概念を否定しているといえるのではないか．TrackBackにはいろいろな効用があるが，いろんな意味づけ（未来のリンクとかどうとか）は置いておいて，第一にこれはシステムによってサポートされた逆リンクである．逆リンクのありがたみというのはなかなか実感しにくくて，普通に順リンクさえあればあとは検索エンジンが逆リンク関係を見つけてくれるはず，という考えは根強くある．が，よく考えてみれば検索エンジンのような巨大なアーカイブがなければその関係を見つけることができず，そしてそういうアーカイブは誰にでも作れるものではない．そういった状況のなかで，TrackBackを実装したWeblogツール間では，あるエントリから直接逆リンク関係をたどることができるようになっている．semblog.orgでは，RSSすなわちメタデータのレベルでもこれと同じことを実現したいと思っている．RSSの巨大アーカイブを作ることなくメタデータ間の関係を直接記述し，それをサポートするツールはその関係を伝っていくだけで関連したコンテンツを見つけられると．

semblog.orgの活動には裏テーマがあって，それはWeblogにまつわるサービスをいかに分散モデルでやれるかというものだ．もちろんユーザにとっては中央集権型であろうが分散であろうがちゃんと使えればどっちでもいいのであるが，ある種の趣味として分散モデルを指向している．その趣味を全うするためにメタデータレベルでエントリ間の関係を記述するための語彙は非常に重要となる．それがmoduleを提案することの真意である．
